Many times we convince ourselves that things will be better or happier once this or that happens. Life will be better after we get married, or have children. Life will be better after the children are grown and we have more free time. Life will be better when our spouse makes a certain change, or after we move into a bigger house, or drive a nicer car, or can retire.
Alfred Souza said, “For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that those obstacles were my life.”
So stop waiting until you finish school…or go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you get married…or get divorced, until you get a new car…or your car is paid off, until the summer when it’s warmer…or the winter when it’s cooler. Stop waiting. Life is happening NOW. And there is no better time to be happy and to live your best life than right now.
