As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out of present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love - even the most simple action.
~ Eckhart Tolle from Practicing The Power of Now.
So often we place so much of the importance on the end result that we forget that the real memories - the real gifts, are found in the present moment. When we are only focused on the future there is an emptiness that can be felt when we finally arrive at our goal or destination. This is because we spend the entire present moment wishing and waiting for the future to come, only to feel empty when it arrives. Suddenly we feel the need to look forward to something else in order to keep from feeling depressed. The feeling of ‘What’s next?’ becomes a never ending cycle. This can be alleviated by remembering that the present moment is all there is. The present moment is truly where joy and happiness reside.
